Senior Full Stack Engineer @ Bedrock

Bedrock is seeking a motivated, experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer at our rapidly growing startup to generate and nurture our B2B sales pipeline, in addition to building a world-class customer experience. He or she will be responsible for developing and building demand generation and digital marketing programs to meet revenue goals. Responsibilities include developing a strong operation backbone of marketing tools and technologies to help the company scale.

The Senior Full Stack Engineer will create and execute on the demand generation strategy for the business. A successful candidate will have a keen understanding of how to efficiently and effectively manage marketing resources to maximize business growth. He or she will define, create, execute and measure integrated marketing campaigns across a variety of channels with a focus on targeting sales managers in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) vertical.

Customer Success Manager

Bedrock Analytics provides a service that takes syndicated and retail data (Nielsen, IRI, Spins, Whole Foods, etc.) and transforms it into dynamic selling stories for consumer product goods (CPG) sales managers, and provides powerful market insights for marketing and category managers.

Bedrock is looking for an exceptional individual to service existing customers as a Category Manager. You should have a proven track record of analyzing data, training colleagues and managing customer relationships. You understand the lingo of the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry, know syndicated data, and enjoy interacting with customers. You can relate to the customer and are interested in the different ways data can be organized, analyzed, and visualized to help customers tell more impactful selling stories to grow their companies at retail. You are comfortable with being an advisor to our customers and senior staff, and can recommend insights on the fly.


  • You understand CPG. You understand the data that drives the CPG industry and know measures, metrics, geographies and can explain how to leverage syndicated data to a CPG sales executive. You are agile with systems and can handle uploading and testing your customer’s data before you send out the update notification with a few key snapshots of their latest trends. You know IRI, Nielsen or SPINS.
  • You serve the customer. Your awesome personality and steely analytical skills can help you master web demos, customer training and all-around customer support. You’re motivated by a satisfied customer and solution-oriented selling. You deliver quality presentations to potential customers and are readily available to help solve any problem a customer may have.
  • You can solve analytical problems you have never seen before and turn them around into solutions for our customers.
  • You can communicate analytics and insights to all users of all departments with a concise and clear messaging.
  • You manage communication. You’re excited to be the trusted advisor for your customers and are glad to share our latest technology updates or training information with them. You share all their constructive feedback with the development team and return a response to each of their requests. It is your pleasure to keep everyone in the loop with what’s going on.

  • BA/BS degree with strong interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Hungry, yet polished and ethical in your approach to customers & data
  • Experience with pulling large quantities of data from IRI or Nielsen
  • At least 2 years of experience in analytics in the CPG utilizing multiple sources of data including shipment,
    panel, scan and market research

Back End Engineer

Bedrock Analytics is looking for an exceptional back end engineer to help us further develop a platform for story-driven analytics. On the back-end, you have worked with Play or Spring Boot framework to build microservices. On the front-end, you've worked with libraries and frameworks like Backbone, and you are familiar with newer frameworks like React and Angular. You have a track record of delivering web applications that people enjoy using, and that support enhancements over time.

If you worked on machine learning and statistical modeling in the past and you enjoyed it, there will be many interesting challenges here.

You like working in an Agile best-practices environment. You understand the importance of testable, modular, efficient code. You work with testing frameworks to ensure that your code works reliably and across different clients.

Guided Story Creation

Our customers need to deliver data-driven stories, but often lack a background in analytics. Bedrock Analytics helps them create compelling sales stories based on their market data. We are quickly automating processes for the consumer packaged goods industry, one of the largest industries in the world, in an effort to democratize insights and level the playing field for smaller brands to compete in retail.

Beautiful, Compelling Visualizations

Effective and clear visualizations are critical to our customers’ success. We not only provide standard charts, but also unique visualizations targeted to specific stories and data scenarios. Come help us create them.

About You

  • 3+ years of professional web development experience
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science preferred.
  • Firm understanding of best practices for object-oriented and modularized software with a particular emphasis on Java
  • Strong understanding of web technologies: Play Boot or Spring Boot or, AWS (S3, RDS, etc.), Jenkins and associated technologies/tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of JavaScript and modern libraries, ideally React.js
  • Experience with statistical modeling and machine learning, is a big plus.
  • Experience with HighCharts or similar charting libraries, is a plus.
  • Experience with advanced data visualization libraries, such as d3, is a plus.
  • This position is full-time and on-site in our Oakland office.
